Martini Recipe

*You must be over 21 to try this recipe*
While our host, Simon Majumdar, knows there are many recipes to make a Martini, this is his.

This recipe makes 1 drink.
Ingredients

-
3 Oz Gin (My current favorites are Ford’s, Beefeater 24 and Plymouth)
-
1 Bottle Noilly Pratt Dry Vermouth
-
20 Ice Cubes
-
1 Lemon (washed)

Equipment

-
I Martini Glass
-
1 Cocktail Shaker
-
1 Cocktail Mixing Spoon
-
1 Vegetable Peeler
-
1 Cocktail Strainer

Instructions

-
Chill the cocktail glass, the gin and the vermouth. (I often keep them all in the freezer all the time.)
-
Remove glass from the freezer.
-
Add 10 ice cubes (or as many as will fit) to the Martini glass.
-
Add 1 capful of Noilly Pratt to the glass.
-
Add the remaining ice cubes in to the cocktail shaker.
-
Add the gin into the cocktail shaker.
-
Stir with the spoon for twenty rotations in one direction. (Note: As the drink is entirely made of alcoholic ingredients, you don’t need to shake it. A shaken Martini is actually called a Bradford.)
-
Swirl the ice and Noilly Pratt in the glass and then discard.
-
Strain the gin into the cocktail glass.
-
Over the glass peel a strip of lemon and make sure to only get the zest and not the white pith. You should see lemon oil descending on the surface of the Martini.
-
Squeeze the lemon zest to release oils.
-
Rub the edges of the glass with the twist and then slide it into the liquid, if so desired.
